The positive contribution service users can make to social care planning and development is now recognised in government policy. Service users are taking an active role in efforts to shape and improve both health and social care services. This can be both change and improvement in immediate services and in the culture and attitudes of the agencies and staff who deliver those services.
Our group regularly engage with local service providers, not least including Leeds City Council Adult Social Care. In fact we have regular meeting sessions with Council representatives and Councillor Adam Ogilvie, Labour Councillor for Beeston & Holbeck on Leeds City Council and Executive Member for Adult Social Care, as an opportunity to highlight any new issues prevalent to ASC users generally that can be discussed, acted upon and followed up at subsequent review meetings.
